
Brigadier General (Retired) Larry Burris is a native of Chesterfield, Virginia. He was commissioned an Infantry Officer through the ROTC program at the Virginia Military Institute.
BG Burris has led troops at every level from the Platoon to Brigade Combat Team. His key troop assignments include Rifle Platoon Leader, 3-187 IN, Company Commander, C/3-15 IN, Battalion Commander, 1-66 AR, and Infantry Brigade Combat Team Commander, 3rd BCT, 101st ABN DIV (AASLT).
BG Burris’ key staff assignments include Intern, Joint Staff J7, Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff, US Army, Battalion and BCT S3, Aide-de-Camp to the Vice Chief of Staff, Army, Executive Officer to the Deputy Commanding General, US Army Forces Command, Executive Officer to the Secretary of the Army, and Operations Officer, Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve.
BG Burris’ deployments include multiple tours in Bosnia, Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Prior to retiring, BG Burris served as the 60th Chief of Infantry and the 3rd Director of the Soldier Lethality Cross Functional Team.
He is married and he and his wife Amy, have two daughters.
